  • RoRo is a female Bornean Orangutan and is estimated to have been born in 1988. She was wild born, but was taken from the wild for the illegal pet trade. She has had two daughters with Tuan; Hsiao-Ning (born 2003) and Dinda (born 2006), but rejected both (due to not having learnt parenting skills due to being taken from the wild at a young age), resulting in them being hand reared. In 2017, Ro-Ro was moved into the Orangutan Nursery where she acted as foster mother to a newly arrived Mimi, before moving back to this group due to not getting on with the nursery's other foster mother Oshine. She is maternal grandmother to Hsiao-Ning and Dinda's daughters Niah and Lintang. She is 30/31 years old.

Because of this, Hujan was cared for by the zoo's keepers. However when later attempting to reintroduce Hujan to his mother, she would not accept him. Hujan was hand-reared by the keepers until coming to Monkey World on 11 March 2019. He is 1 year old.

Former Members

  • Amy is a female Bornean Orangutan who was born at a private zoo on 23 September 1983. She is the mother of Gordon and an unnamed female orangutan and the paternal grandmother of Jin. She was rejected by her mother at birth and was hand reared by Monkey World's co-founder Jeremy Keeling (who at the time, worked at the private zoo). Upon reaching maturity, Amy was paired with a male orangutan named Banghi (who sadly died in 1998), with whom she had her son Gordon in 1997. Due to being hand reared, Amy rejected Gordon, who was hand reared. She bounded with Gordon when he was around two years old. She mated with Tuan in 2008 and gave birth to a daughter, who sadly died shortly afterwards. Amy now lives in a seperate group with Gordon and Hsiao-Lan. She is 35 years old.
  • Gordon is a male Bornean Orangutan who was born at Monkey World on 9 December 1997. He is Amy and Banghi's son, the half-brother of an unnamed female orangutan and the father of Jin. He was rejected at birth by Amy (due to being hand reared after she too was rejected by her mother) and had to be hand reared. He eventually bounded with Amy at two years old. He currently lives in a seperate group with Amy and Hsiao-Lan. In November 2009, Gordon became a father after mating with a female orangutan named Hsiao-Quai, who gave birth to a son named Jin. He is 21 years old.
  • Hsiao-Lan is a female Bornean Orangutan who is estimated to have been born in 1994. She was wild born, but was smuggled as an infant and was confiscated by Taiwanese authorites after being found at an arcade. She later lived at the Pingtung Rescue Centre where she lived with Hsiao-Quai and Lucky. She came to Monkey World in 2002. In May 2012 after being moved from Tuan's group into Gordon's group, Hsiao-Lan gave birth a daughter named Awan (whom she had with Tuan), but rejected her due to lack of parenting skills. Fortunatly, Hsiao-Quai took in Awan and cared for her. She is 24/25 years old.
  • Unnamed was a female Bornean Orangutan. She was born at Monkey World on 19th October 2008. She was Tuan and Amy's daughter, Gordon, Hsiao-Ning, Dinda, Kai and Awan's half-sister and the aunt of Jin, Niah and Lintang. She sadly passed away one day after being born.
  • Dinda is a female Bornean Orangutan who was born at Monkey World on 6th July 2006 to Tuan and RoRo. She is also the half-sister of Hsiao-Ning, Kai, an unnamed female orangutan and Awan. Sadly, RoRo rejected Dinda (like she did to Hsiao-Ning) and after a failed attempt to get Hsiao-Quai to adopt her, Dinda was hand reared by Monkey World staff before joining the Orangutan Nursery. She, along with Joly and Lingga, joined this group at adolescence. In 2015, Dinda left Monkey World and moved to Rostock Zoo in Germany to live with Hsiao-Ning. In 2017, Dinda became an aunt to Hsiao-Ning's daughter Niah. In 2018, Dinda gave birth to her daughter Lintang and has proved to be an excellent mother. She is 12 years old.
  • Joly is a female Bornean Orangutan who was born on 9th July 2005 and came to Monkey World in 2006 from Moscow Zoo. She orginally lived in the Orangutan Nursery. She, Lingga and Dinda joined this group after reaching adolescence. Since 2016, Joly, along with Lingga and Kai, lives in Rio Safari Elche in Spain. She is 13 years old.
  • Lingga is a female Bornean Orangutan who was born in 2005 and came to Monkey World in 2007 from Paris. She used to live in the Orangutan Nursery until moving to this group with Joly and Dinda upon reaching adolescence. Since 2016, Lingga, along with Joly and Kai, now lives at Rio Safari Elche in Spain. She is 13 years old.

  • Hsiao-Quai was a female Bornean Orangutan who was estimated to have been born in 1994. She was wild born, but was smuggled as an infant. She was later confiscated by Taiwanese authorites and brought to Pingtung Rescue Centre and shared an enclosure with Hsiao-Lan and Lucky. She came to Monkey World in 2001. In 2005, Hsiao-Quai mated with Tuan and had a son with him named Kai. In 2009, she mated with Gordon and had another son named Jin. In 2012, Hsiao-Quai adopted Awan after Hsiao-Lan rejected her. She later moved to the Orangutan Nursery with Awan to help Jin settle in before returning to Gordon's Group. She later joined this group before returning to the nursery. In 2017, Hsiao-Quai and Awan returned to this group. She was the first and so far only orangutan at the park to raise her own children. She sadly died in 2017 from heart failure after contracting a urinary tract infection. She was 22/23 years old.
